On the Asp

Latin Etymology: Prefixes

De aspide etiam in genere dicit Isidorus, libro duodecimo [Etymologies, 12.4]: fertur, inquit, quod aspis cum coeperit pati incantatorem, qui eam quibusdam carminibus propriis evocat, ut eam de caverna producat, illa cum exire noluerit unam aurem in terram praemit, alteram vero cauda obturat et operi, et sic illas voces magicas non audiens ad incantatorem non exit et eius imperio non oboedit.

Identify the prefix in each Latin word, then chose the correct definition for the English word related to it. The definitions are created literally from the prefix and root meanings, but still retain the crux of the words' modern English meanings. Remember that e and ex are equivalent.
