Latin Grammar: Comparatives and Superlatives |
Quia enim livor dentibus per somnum adhaeret, cum homo de somno surgit, frigida aqua purget, quoniam ipsa dentes magis quam calida aqua purgat, quia calida aqua eos fragiliores facit. This passage contains several adjectives, one of which, fragiliores , is in the comparative. As you know, adjectives in Latin can be positive, comparative and superlative, even as they are in English. For example: frigida, frigidior, frigidissima could be translated cold, colder, coldest. In the chart below, five adjectives are given in their positive form. Change them into comparative and superlative in the number, case and gender indicated. |
